Reduce Biting Activity & Protect Outdoor Spaces
Mosquitoes thrive wherever standing water and shaded foliage create breeding and resting zones. Effective mosquito control requires more than fogging. It requires identifying breeding sites, treating resting areas, and interrupting the mosquito life cycle with targeted applications.
Pestcom Pest Management has provided professional mosquito control in Boise and across the Treasure Valley since 2009. Every service starts with a free on-site inspection and written estimate reviewed with you before any work begins. Our technicians are individually licensed by the Idaho Department of Agriculture, and every job is backed by our satisfaction guarantee: if results aren’t satisfactory, we return at no charge.
Why Mosquito Pressure Builds in the Treasure Valley
Mosquito activity comes down to two things: standing water where eggs and larvae develop, and shaded foliage where adult mosquitoes rest during the day. Boise’s warm summers, backyard irrigation systems, and shaded landscapes create pockets of moisture that sustain mosquito populations even in a dry climate. The season peaks June through August, but breeding conditions build earlier wherever sprinklers, garden beds, and lawn irrigation keep the ground moist.
Common breeding and resting sites include:
- Bird baths, planters, clogged gutters, and yard drains
- Irrigated turf, low spots, and poorly drained areas
- Dense shrubs, patio covers, pergolas, and fence lines
Identifying and addressing these zones is the foundation of effective, lasting mosquito control.
How Do We Exterminate Mosquitoes?

Our technicians know a lot about mosquito infestations. We’ve applied mosquito removal treatments to hundreds of homes in our area. We know how to immediately spot the signs of mosquitoes and where to find the source of the infestation. We will visit your home to search for:
- Possible infestation locations in the kitchen, bathroom, patio, and even in the walls.
- Signs of mosquitoes, such as high-pitched buzzing sounds and sightings of the bugs themselves.
- Potential entry points for mosquitoes, including cracks in the walls and foundation.
We complete a full inspection so we can understand the extent of the problem.

Mosquitoes In Boise
Mosquitoes can be found just about anywhere. They thrive inside and outside — in cold environments and hot ones. And they are located in nearly every corner of the planet, including Idaho.
In Idaho, you can find several types of mosquitoes. The most common species in Idaho include:
- Culex pipiens. This species is a common vector for the West Nile virus.
- Aedes vexans. Known for its aggressive biting behavior, this mosquito is often found near floodwaters.
- Aedes dorsalis. These mosquitoes are typically found in salt marshes and other coastal areas.
- Anopheles freeborni. This mosquito is a potential vector for malaria, though malaria is not common in Idaho.
- Culex tarsalis. Another vector for the West Nile virus is often found in agricultural areas.
You can find mosquitoes in your kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, yard, or even in the walls of your home. Our team of Boise-based pest technicians are experts in mosquito control. We know where mosquitoes like to hide and how to get rid of them quickly. If you are experiencing mosquito problems or if you want to avoid mosquitoes from invading your property, give Pestcom a call.

-
Do you offer commercial or HOA pest control?Yes. We provide commercial pest control for offices, restaurants, schools, multifamily properties, warehouses, and HOA common areas across Boise, Nampa, Meridian, and the broader Treasure Valley. Each program is built around the property's specific pest pressures, occupancy patterns, and compliance needs, and commercial agreements are negotiated by individual property and proposal with terms tailored to the owner or management company.
-
Do you service rural properties, acreage, and homes near canals?Yes. The Treasure Valley has a mix of subdivision homes, acreage, agricultural property, and homes near canal corridors and irrigation ditches — each environment creates different rodent and insect pressures, and our technicians adjust inspection points and treatment plans accordingly. Properties near water sources typically experience heavier spider and web activity, and acreage often requires additional attention to outbuildings, entry points, and rodent harborage areas.
-
Do you require a contract, and how does cancellation work?Pestcom uses a service agreement rather than a fixed contract — a 12-month initial agreement that converts to month-to-month after the first year. The agreement is mutual: we commit to delivering the services quoted at the agreed price, and you commit to giving us the opportunity to address any service concerns before canceling. If a concern is raised and we're unable to resolve it, no cancellation fee applies. Customers moving outside our service area without a transfer option are also exempt from any cancellation fee. After the first year, service is month-to-month and can be canceled at any time with no fee. Cancellations are processed via written notice or a conversation with our billing team that we document in writing. Commercial agreements are negotiated individually by property and proposal, and specialty services like bed bug, termite, and one-time treatments operate on service agreements rather than annual contracts.
Understanding the Mosquito Life Cycle
Mosquitoes develop in four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Control is most effective when multiple stages are addressed, not just the adults you see and feel.
- Eggs are laid near standing water and hatch quickly in warm conditions
- Larvae live in water and feed on algae, bacteria, and organic matter as they develop
- Pupae complete development before emerging as biting adults
- Adults bite, rest in shaded foliage, and reproduce to start the cycle again
In Boise, even low-humidity summers support rapid mosquito reproduction when sprinklers, garden beds, and lawn irrigation provide the moisture mosquitoes need. Targeting adults alone leaves larvae to emerge and replenish the population within days. A layered approach combining larvicide applications to treatable standing water with foliage treatments targeting adult resting zones can produce sustained population reduction that single-point intervention can’t match.
How We Approach Mosquito Control
We don’t apply a one-size-fits-all plan. Each visit starts with an inspection of your specific property before any treatment decisions are made.
Inspection
Our technicians locate standing water sources and drainage issues, shaded resting areas in shrubs and landscape edges, and high-activity zones near patios, doors, and outdoor living areas. We explain what we find before treatment begins.
Targeted Treatment
Based on the inspection, we apply foliage treatments where adult mosquitoes rest and, where appropriate, larvicide applications to treatable standing water. This dual-stage approach reduces active populations and interrupts the breeding cycle before new adults emerge. Perimeter guidance addresses migration pathways toward outdoor living areas. All treatments are formulated to be family- and pet-friendly when used as directed, and we provide clear re-entry guidance after each visit.
Habitat Guidance & Ongoing Maintenance
We provide a water-management checklist to help you reduce future breeding sites on your property. Seasonal re-service is scheduled during peak mosquito months to keep populations suppressed between visits. Pet and gate notes are saved to your account so our technicians can complete exterior service while you’re away.
