Effective Fly Removal and Long-Term Prevention
Flies multiply quickly anywhere moisture and organic residue collect. Kitchens, floor drains, garbage areas, patios, and outdoor gathering spaces are common problem zones across the Treasure Valley. Successful fly control starts with identifying the species and eliminating breeding sources—not just swatting visible adults.
Pestcom Pest Management provides professional fly control services designed to remove active infestations and help prevent flies from cycling back through proven, source-focused strategies.
Why Fly Problems Start
Most fly issues trace back to hidden breeding sites rather than random entry. Once breeding sources are corrected, activity typically drops quickly.
Common attractants include:
- Organic buildup in sink and floor drains
- Garbage and recycling bins with residue
- Compost and pet waste areas
- Mop buckets, utility sinks, and damp cleaning zones
- Yard debris and shaded, damp outdoor areas
- Seasonal entry at rooflines, screens, and attic gaps
Common Fly Species We Treat
Different flies require different control strategies. Correct identification keeps treatment focused on the true source.
- House flies – often near doors, trash areas, garages, patios, and pet zones
- Fruit flies – common around produce, recycling, and sticky spills
- Drain (moth) flies – breed in gel-like biofilm inside drains
- Blow flies – metallic flies often tied to garbage or animal waste
- Cluster flies (seasonal) – gather at sunny windows and may overwinter in attics and wall voids
Our Fly Control Process
1) Inspection & Source Mapping
We identify likely breeding sites indoors and outdoors and map pressure points.
- Sink and floor drains, disposals, and plumbing connections
- Trash handling areas, recycling, compost, and pet zones
- Leaks, standing water, and over-irrigated landscaping
- Screens, door sweeps, thresholds, and utility penetrations
2) Source Elimination
- Drain biofilm removal strategies (often enzymatic or foaming drain treatments where appropriate)
- Guidance for deep cleaning bins, disposals, spill zones, and “sticky” residues
- Moisture corrections (leaks, condensation, airflow improvements)
3) Targeted Knockdown & Control
- Precision applications at resting sites and entry points
- Bait or attract-and-kill placements when appropriate and safely positioned
- Insect growth regulators (IGRs) when needed to interrupt breeding cycles
- Professional trapping options for persistent indoor hotspots
4) Exclusion & Prevention
- Recommendations to repair screens and improve door sweeps
- Sealing guidance for gaps at rooflines, soffits, and utility entries
- Trash storage and sanitation recommendations to reduce re-attraction
5) Follow-Up & Maintenance
We recheck pressure points and adjust placements as needed. Seasonal maintenance options help keep patios, entries, and kitchens clearer during peak fly months.
Preparing for Fly Treatment
Before We Arrive
- Run hot water with a small amount of dish soap down sinks and tubs
- Empty and clean trash and recycling; rinse sticky containers
- Move bins 2–3 feet away from walls
- Pick up pet waste the day of service
- Note where activity is most noticeable (drains, windows, patios, trash areas)
After Treatment
- Follow the recommended drain maintenance routine for 1–2 weeks (if drains are involved)
- Keep trash lids closed and rinse bins regularly
- Clean sink stoppers and rubber gaskets
- Close doors promptly at dusk and repair torn screens
- Expect steady decline once breeding sites are eliminated
Why Flies Are a Problem
Beyond being a nuisance, flies can:
- Contaminate food and prep surfaces
- Transfer bacteria mechanically as they land and move between surfaces
- Create persistent odors and unsanitary conditions
- Recur quickly if breeding sites remain untreated
Source control is the key to long-term results.
Signs You May Have a Fly Problem

Our FAQ

-
Do you offer commercial or HOA pest control?Yes. We provide commercial pest control for offices, restaurants, schools, multifamily properties, warehouses, and HOA common areas across Boise, Nampa, Meridian, and the broader Treasure Valley. Each program is built around the property's specific pest pressures, occupancy patterns, and compliance needs, and commercial agreements are negotiated by individual property and proposal with terms tailored to the owner or management company.
-
Do you service rural properties, acreage, and homes near canals?Yes. The Treasure Valley has a mix of subdivision homes, acreage, agricultural property, and homes near canal corridors and irrigation ditches — each environment creates different rodent and insect pressures, and our technicians adjust inspection points and treatment plans accordingly. Properties near water sources typically experience heavier spider and web activity, and acreage often requires additional attention to outbuildings, entry points, and rodent harborage areas.
-
Do you require a contract, and how does cancellation work?Pestcom uses a service agreement rather than a fixed contract — a 12-month initial agreement that converts to month-to-month after the first year. The agreement is mutual: we commit to delivering the services quoted at the agreed price, and you commit to giving us the opportunity to address any service concerns before canceling. If a concern is raised and we're unable to resolve it, no cancellation fee applies. Customers moving outside our service area without a transfer option are also exempt from any cancellation fee. After the first year, service is month-to-month and can be canceled at any time with no fee. Cancellations are processed via written notice or a conversation with our billing team that we document in writing. Commercial agreements are negotiated individually by property and proposal, and specialty services like bed bug, termite, and one-time treatments operate on service agreements rather than annual contracts.
