Hornet, Yellowjacket & Wasp Nest Removal

Safe Removal and Long-Term Prevention for Stinging Insects

Stinging insects around eaves, decks, play areas, or entry points can quickly make a property unsafe. Effective control requires correct species identification, safe nest neutralization, and preventive treatments that discourage rebuilding in the same locations.

Pestcom Pest Management provides professional hornet, yellowjacket, and wasp control services throughout southwest Idaho and eastern Oregon, designed to remove active nests and reduce repeat activity all season long.

Why Wasps, Yellowjackets, and Hornets Show Up

These insects are attracted to food sources, shelter, and protected nesting sites.

  • Sugary drinks, fallen fruit, and open trash
  • Protein sources such as grills and pet food
  • High insect activity near exterior lighting
  • Protected areas like eaves, soffits, pergolas, sheds, and deck undersides

Queens emerge in spring, colonies grow through summer, and activity often peaks in late summer and early fall if nests aren’t addressed early.

Common Concerns With Stinging Insects

  • Painful stings — most wasps and yellowjackets can sting multiple times
  • Aggressive nest defense near doors, decks, patios, and play areas
  • Repeat nesting in the same locations when conditions remain favorable

How Do We Exterminate Wasps & Hornets?

  • Same-Day Wasp Inspection

Our technicians know a thing or two about wasp infestations. We’ve removed hornet, wasp, & yellow jacket nests from hundreds of homes in our area. We know how to immediately spot the signs that will lead us right to the nest. Our inspection includes:

    • Identifying all nests — since there are likely more than one — hidden around your home and yard.
    • Pointing out potential areas of concern that could be attracting wasps to your home.
    • Creating an effective, affordable wasp treatment plan

We complete a full inspection to understand the extent of the wasp problem in your Boise area home.

  • Wasp, Yellow Jacket, & Hornet Removal

We stop the wasp problem right away by immediately eliminating the wasp nest. This makes the remaining hornets looking for a new place to create a nest. Luckily, our treatments make your home unattractive to future wasps and keep them away for good.

    • We treat your home at a convenient time for you, and we arrive when we say we will.
    • We quickly find and remove all nests around your property.
    • Our treatments exterminate current wasps and keep future wasps from building nests.

At Pestcom, we use the most effective treatments available to rid your Treasure Valley home and yard of wasps, yellow jackets, hornets, and mud daubers.

  • Preventative Wasp Treatments

It’s important to not ony remove the current population of wasps and yellow jackets around your home, but also ensure no more invade your property. To protect your home in the future, our technicians will:

    • Apply treatments in areas likely to attract more wasps and hornets, such as in the eaves of your home.
    • Recommend ways to further protect your home, such as place screens on windows and seal cracks with caulk.
    • Return for regular treatments as necessary

Never swat away a wasp or hornet again when you hire Pestcom Pest Control to treat your Boise area home.

  • Yellow Jackets, Hornets, & Wasps in Our Area

Unlike honey bees, hornets build new nests each spring. Each nest is started by a fertilized female. She usually lays her eggs inside, and these eggs will eventually hatch to become the nest's workers. The colony continues to grow throughout the spring and summer, with the same queen laying all the eggs to produce the new members of the growing nest. The nest usually survives through mid to late autumn before the entire colony dies (usually with the onset of cold weather).

Because hornets are only active during the warmer months of the year, they are significantly more common in warmer areas of the country, such as the southeastern portion of the United States. Still, they are found in most states within the continental United States, including Idaho.

Species We Commonly Treat

  • Paper wasps – open, umbrella-style nests under eaves, porch ceilings, and light fixtures
  • Yellowjackets – nests in ground cavities, wall voids, and landscape edges
  • Bald-faced hornets – large aerial paper nests on trees and structures
  • Mud daubers – mud tubes on siding and garages (less aggressive, but still a nuisance near entries)

Where Nests Are Found

  • Eaves, soffits, and porch ceilings
  • Pergolas, play sets, and deck undersides
  • Fence lines, sheds, and garage rafters
  • Valve boxes, wall voids, and utility penetrations
  • Ground cavities near landscape borders and retaining walls

Signs of Active Nesting

  • Repeated flight paths to the same point
  • Paper debris or chewed wood fibers beneath forming nests
  • Heavy activity near trash, patios, or outdoor eating areas

Our FAQ

Have questions? We are here to help. Still have questions or can't find the answer you need? Give us a call at 208-795-3298 today!

  • Do you offer commercial or HOA pest control?
Yes. We provide commercial pest control for offices, restaurants, schools, multifamily properties, warehouses, and HOA common areas across Boise, Nampa, Meridian, and the broader Treasure Valley. Each program is built around the property's specific pest pressures, occupancy patterns, and compliance needs, and commercial agreements are negotiated by individual property and proposal with terms tailored to the owner or management company.
  • Do you service rural properties, acreage, and homes near canals?
Yes. The Treasure Valley has a mix of subdivision homes, acreage, agricultural property, and homes near canal corridors and irrigation ditches — each environment creates different rodent and insect pressures, and our technicians adjust inspection points and treatment plans accordingly. Properties near water sources typically experience heavier spider and web activity, and acreage often requires additional attention to outbuildings, entry points, and rodent harborage areas.
  • Do you require a contract, and how does cancellation work?
Pestcom uses a service agreement rather than a fixed contract — a 12-month initial agreement that converts to month-to-month after the first year. The agreement is mutual: we commit to delivering the services quoted at the agreed price, and you commit to giving us the opportunity to address any service concerns before canceling. If a concern is raised and we're unable to resolve it, no cancellation fee applies. Customers moving outside our service area without a transfer option are also exempt from any cancellation fee. After the first year, service is month-to-month and can be canceled at any time with no fee. Cancellations are processed via written notice or a conversation with our billing team that we document in writing. Commercial agreements are negotiated individually by property and proposal, and specialty services like bed bug, termite, and one-time treatments operate on service agreements rather than annual contracts.

Our Hornet, Yellowjacket & Wasp Control Process

1) Inspection & Identification

We identify the species, locate active and satellite nests, and assess conditions that encourage nesting such as food sources, shelter points, and entry gaps.

2) Safe Nest Neutralization & Removal

  • Targeted treatments matched to species and nest location
  • Careful removal of accessible nests and residue
  • Void treatments when nests connect to wall or soffit cavities

3) Exterior Barrier & Harborage Reduction

  • Strategic treatments at eaves, soffit seams, fascia gaps, decks, and utility penetrations
  • Guidance for trash handling, grill cleanup, and fallen fruit management
  • Recommendations for sealing, screening, and weather-stripping

4) Follow-Up & Seasonal Prevention

Maintenance plans through spring and summer help interrupt new queen starts and reduce late-season pressure, lowering the risk of repeat nesting.

Prevention Checklist

  • Use tight-fitting lids on trash and recycling bins
  • Rinse containers before recycling
  • Clean grills and avoid leaving pet food outside
  • Reduce bright lighting near doors or use warmer bulbs
  • Trim vegetation touching structures
  • Inspect eaves, soffits, and play structures regularly
